Anatomical Fragments (Series)
Description:
A series of three hand-carved marble relief sculptures depicting isolated anatomical forms, a hand, ribcage, and foot. Emerging from circular fields of stone, the figures appear suspended between presence and absence, simultaneously functioning as bodily fragments, impressions, and relics. Through reduction and careful carving, each work explores the tension between permanence and fragility, transforming anatomical structures into contemplative forms.
Medium & Materials:
Marble, hand-carved and polished.
Dimensions:
Each sculpture: 18 cm diameter × approximately 2–3 cm depth
About the Series:
Hand of Sun continues an ongoing investigation into the relationship between the body, memory, and material. Rather than presenting the body as a complete figure, the works isolate individual forms, allowing them to exist as traces suspended in stone. The circular format evokes archaeological fragments, medallions, or specimens, while the carved surfaces capture shifting light and shadow throughout the day.
The series reflects an interest in marble's dual nature: a material historically associated with permanence that is nevertheless capable of expressing vulnerability, tenderness, and transformation. Through direct carving, each form emerges gradually from the stone, preserving a dialogue between the artist's hand and the geological history of the material itself.
Collector's Note:
This series consists of three unique original marble relief sculptures, hand-carved by the artist, signed and dated. No reproductions exist.
