Description:
Medium & Materials: Experimental chemigram on fine-art photographic paper, one-of-a-kind original, signed and dated, not a print or reproduction.
Dimensions: 17.7 cm x 24 cm
About the Work:
“Persephone” explores transformation, duality, and the passage between states. Created through the chemigram process, the work develops through the physical interaction of photographic chemistry, light, time, and gesture. Rather than depicting a predetermined image, the process allows the material itself to become the image, producing a surface shaped by both intention and chance.
Why This Piece Matters:
“Persephone” is a singular material experiment, with its final appearance emerging through an unrepeatable chemical and physical process.
The work reflects an interest in cycles of transformation and the tension between emergence and disappearance, themes that recur throughout my broader material practice.
Its intimate scale invites close observation, allowing the subtle shifts and traces within the photographic surface to become part of the viewing experience.
The work can exist independently or alongside larger sculptures, photographs, and material works, creating a dialogue between fragile photographic processes and more physically substantial forms.
Collector’s Note:
“Persephone” is not a conventional photographic print. It is a one-of-a-kind object produced through chemical intervention, where the final image remains partially beyond the artist’s control. The resulting surface becomes a record of transformation, time, and the material conditions of its own creation.
Presentation & Shipping:
Will be shipped flat, carefully protected between acid-free backing boards and archival tissue, in rigid protective packaging to ensure safe arrival. Framing upon request (framing cost additional).
